I'm good thanks, and you? Welcome to the forums...

I first started playing about 4 years ago, playing in a band with my friends. But I gave that up & didn't play much bass until about a year ago, when I started taking it seriously & learning to play. So not much experience yet...

& yourself? Tell us a bit more...

I am good as well thanks for asking, it sounds abit like your self been playing about a year and half got a bit lost about a year ago and then found our main man, i wish marlowe would do some more about good practise riffs and a little bit more for the new bass players, some of the riffs he plays i cant see what his fingers are doing, thats not a kock far from it, i have the greates respect for the man, and i know he cant keep every body happy, i love the 70s sound and would love one day to play like Bernard Edwards, i can play some of chic`c stuff but no wear near as clean, may be one day

I'm playing a 2007 Deluxe Active Jazz Bass with DR "Low Riders" on it and I love it. I'm about 4 weeks back in to playing after a 15+ year layoff. I was inspired to get back in to playing by both a surprise windfall of cash and MarloweDK. I love your videos and your sense of humor while playing.

I'm no where near where I want to be but I'm coming along nicely and after practicing constantly am feeling pretty good about my progress. I'm currently studying reading and transcribing. I used TAB in the old days but firmly believe the advice I read here about reading music.

Thanks for the great sounds Marlowe and more importantly thanks for the inspiration!

My main bass is a black Sandberg Basic 5-string. I like it very much due to playability and design.

My second bass is an Ibanez RD 300. I use it only for Slapping, because it's easier for me with 4 strings and more stringspacing. But this bass is not that good-sounding and not as beautyfull as the Sandberg.

    Hi²all,
actually I play a mexican fiesta red '57 Reissue Mexican Fender Bass.
For years I played two Hohner licensed by Steinberger headless basses(active/ passive), because of the low weight and the real flexible sound. When you have to play up to eight hours a gig, every gram feels like tons...
The service around at Hohner/ Germany was great, but the strings
    became to expensive:( For acoustic-gigs
I use a Washburn Mercury MB-4 Fretless Bass and/ or an Upright.
For "back to the 60ies-gigs" I use a 1967 EKO 955/2 Violin Bass.

Got a tobacco sunburst Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe 24V, 5 strings, active single coils seymour duncans, 3 band EQ. Sounds great, Think the preamp could be a little better, thinking bout upgrading to an Aguilar or Bartolini preamp.....

A Mexican fretless fender jazz bass with an american neck (epoxy finnish) black on black ( black body black pickguard) a lot of bumps and scratches
Sx Vintage series custom natural, black block inlays. Both play great, i am more of a fretless player. I prefer my fender.

  25. Hi all.
i play fender jazz and fender jazz
70's style 4 string jazz with maple fingerbord with white block inlays, Antiquity pickups, and a Hipshot D-tuner.
the other one is another 4 string, 2008 3-color sunburst jazz.

i'm really happy with these basses. and i had ibanez BTB5, Spector NS2, Warcick Streamer LX5, and Musicman stingRay5. i've sold them all, focusing on the fenders now.

i run the basses through a sadowsky DI/preamp, and at home i practice with an SWR Workingmans15.

happy to be a part of this forum!
    rock on!

I have a Musicman Stingray5 which I've had for about 12 years and I love its tone plus a Stu Hamm signature Fender Urge, which has 2 Jazz and 2 Precision pick ups for the best of both worlds!

Current gear is a Fender 75 Jazz US/RI, Sadowsky RV5 and just picked up a Fender 72 P bass in mint condition. Yes it hurt! but worth it. Only thing left for me is a Stingray 5 and that should be it. Who sniggered? Don't really get a lot of gas this way as what I'm playing I'm really happy with. Use an Eden WP100 preamp, crown power amp, Eden 410XLT and another Eden 112 for rehearsals and practice. Few foot effects from EBS and Qtron wah and that's it. I've really been looking for something just like this site to further the playing abilities and it seems like a case of look no further.

Not very impressively I play a Fender jazz copy. An ESP! For now and with more so with the Pandora,,, It sounds quite allright! I am wondering though if it's possible,,, What bass has a light(er) weighted body, and still a full warm sound? Just for the convenience!
My next bass will be a (lady) shortscale. And How I regret selling my first one. If you love a bass, never sell it!!
