It can be hard to play funky slap in medium / slow tempo (82 bpm)
Untight 16th notes stand out so much more in slow tempos – therefore we must practice that too:-)
Hair by Larry Graham is a another prime example of playing in this tempo/groove – a song that have taken me many years to play just ok.
Gear used:
Bass: 1976 Olympic white Fender Precision bass, all stock.
Strings: Dunlop Nickel plated Medium gauge 45 -105
Headphone amp with rhythm, ampsim, compressor and chorus: Korg Pandora Px4
Recorded directly into iMovie on Macbook
Location: Hotel room
CORRECTION: The start of the slow version is wrong, the first notes should be
Hammer on from E to G on E string
Pluck/pop octave G on D string
Two thumbed low Gs on E string
Pluck/pop octave open G string
after that the rest of bar one should be ok, do the same for bar two.
UPDATE! I’ve included the correct transcription / TAB below

Wow! This sounds incredibly hip and when I heard it I thought it might take me weeks to learn it. But it is surprisingly easy to play. A great lick for showing off
Just got myself a mexican P-bass. Thanks for the inspiration! I’ve got a lot to practice now!
Thanks for considering us beginners. You slow down so we can learn not like others that they seem like that just want to show off and not teach anything.

Ciao Marlowe!
Thx I was bad tempered, happy guy now! Funny you still have the Korg I thought you’d have sold it. I got an Irig you know those? Hooked it ip to an old ipod I got of the internet for little money.
Do you have a Musicman Big Al btw? Check it out! Are you on tour? (because of the hotel…)
Thx again, a presto!
Cool groove, I like slower tempo ones like this. They’re heavier, yet still funky.
Many thanks again, for this fantastic exercise.
You are opening a world of bass to me !!

Why does your transcription say to play F as the third note of the pattern after the hammeron from E to G when you write in your correction that you should play the octave G on the D string?
