L285 Blues licks in A

Im playing over a A7 to D9 chord sequence – We can call the tune “The Green Count”;-)
Even though the A7 chord has a major third, you can play minor thirds as well – its Blues!
Scales you can use:
A minor pentatonic / blues scale
A minor dorian scale
D mixolydian
A dimished – actually the A dim chord in arpeggio form
G Major scale – G Maj 7 arpeggio
E minor pentatonic scale

marlowe hello, I would like if possible to have the tab of this licks.I’m excited every time I hear it. In Italy there is little material for the study of the bass. Thanks in advance.

Very nice – I played and played that riff until it was ingrained in my mind, started playing it in different keys, learning some of the extended solo, and now I’ve been using bits and pieces of the riff ideas as solos and pieces of other lines.

Once in a while I get a breakthrough like this and move beyond playing a riff – thank you so much for this one!

The E minor pentatonic (E, G, A, B, D) contains the 5, b7, 1 , 2 (9) and 4 (11) of the A minor dorian scale. So its a selection of the same notes, just “translated” into something familar to us bassplayers. Ill do a tutorial of those principles soon

Just a question, Why can you use The E minor pentatonic on this case ? Because it’s the 5th degree in A major scale ? thank you

Can we get a transcription for this? I’m sorry, I’m really tryin, but the beauty of something like this is in the subtleties.
