Im imitating the sound of a P bass by only using the neck pickup and rolling the tone knob a fair amount down
Dear MarloweDK, thank you for great vid(s).
Not all is clear to me in this groove yet since I am beginner. Would you kindly advise?
Its supposed to be in A maj so I consider it to be “build” from A maj scale tones – I am little confused you are using A min scale tones: C in second measure and G in that G/G/F#/E lick then. Are the C and G there just as chromatic “bonus tones” to the A maj run? Or am I still not getting/hearing it right?
Thanks!
tks for make me understand the way to sound like a P bass with my JB; tks a bunch !
That is the most inspiring soul groove I’ve heard. Solid and to the point, yet weaved so it tickles your ear. Thank you for your time and amazing talent as a player and teacher. I never knEw playing the bass could be this much fun!!!!

Hi Dute
Its a riff in The key of A major yes, but its a A7 chord vibe – G is the flatted seventh ( b7 )
The C is just a chromatic note to the C# (the Major third)
I do that a lot, gives it a bluesy vibe, playing the minor third before the Major third
The scale for this piece would be the mixolydian scale ( plus the added anticipation note C)
